Well, there was a certain inevitability that the bare metal Hyper-V was going to be made a freely downloadable product and so it is. This is good news on the virtualisation front and Microsoft is squaring up to VMWare after they made their ESXi Express Edition free as well. Microsoft is also making its System Centre Virtual Machine Manager 2008 Product available for free. I wonder what hardware Hyper-V will support because I have found that ESXi supports a certain range of servers at the moment.
